The trail follows the route of an abandoned railroad right-of-way and travels through the arid canyons of the western side of Idaho. There are 62 historic railroad trestles along the way and a good chance of running into wildlife. Much of the trail follows alongside the Weiser River which allows fishing.

Conditions

The Weiser River National Recreation Trail is mostly unpaved and in various states of condition along its route. Portions of the trail within the towns may have asphalt pavement. The trail is open for non-motorized uses such as bike riding, running and walking. In winter, with adequate snow, the trail is used for cross country skiing.
