The South Portland Greenbelt Parkway is a set of paved pathways totaling 5.2 miles located in South Portland in Southern Maine. The trail goes past Wainright Field, through dense woodlands, past the wetlands alongside the Fore River, past residential neighborhoods and other local parks, then out to Bug Light Park with the lighthouse and views of the harbor and ocean.
Conditions
The South Portland Greenbelt Parkway is paved for its entire route. The trail is open for bike riding, walking and running. There are nice long stretches without road crossings. There is a short gap of 1-1/2 blocks between the two trail sections along Chestnut Street.
