Recreational Trails located in: Montana
The State of Montana is located in the north-central portion of the U.S.A. It is known for beautiful mountains, pictureesque river valleys, wildlife and wide open spaces. the state has a wide variety of outdoor recreation opportunities. There is hiking, fishing, mountain biking, skiing, camping and more.
The state has two exquisite national parks, Yellowstone National Park in the south and Glacier National Park near the border with Canada. The state is also rich in Native American history with seven Indian Nations calling it home. The Lewis and Clark Expedition went through what is now Montana, travelling along the Missouri and Yellowstone Rivers.
Montana is home to Big Sky Resort, a year round resort for skiing in the winter and hiking and mountain biking in the summer.
The cities of Billings, Butte, Bozeman, Great Falls and Missoula have many recreational trails for walking, bike riding and running. These paved and unpaved paths allow you to explore these communities in ways you may not have been able to by car. There is also the Bitterroot Bike Trail in the western part of Montana, which is one of the many Rials-to-Trails projects in the state that turn abandoned railroad beds into trails for pedestrians and bikes.
