Recreational Trails located in: New York
The State of New York is located in the Northeastern United States. It is home to New York City, but much of the state is quite rural.
The state has numerous state and regional recreational trails that extend for miles and allow trail users to experience the great outdoors far from traffic and congestion. Many of these trails were constructed along abandoned railroad right-of-ways and have relatively few road crossings. Most of these trails are restricted to non-motorized use in the summer months and allow bike riding and hiking.
The major cities in each have their own system of recreational trails. Some trails connect greenspaces, natural areas or parks and others are located alongside major roadways. These trails are used for cycling, walking, running, sight-seeing, enjoying the outdoors or commuting to work or to school.
