The State of Texas is located in the southcentral section of the U.S.A. The major cities of Texas each have unique recreational trail systems for walking, bike riding, running and experiencing nature or downtown cityscapes.

San Antonio has the San Antonio River Walk that is located in the downtown area near the Alamo. This paved trail lets you experience the urban experience with museums, parks, cafes and other attractions. You can also continue south on the trail to see the four Spanish Missions and the restoration of the river ecosystem.

Houston has the trail system within Buffalo Bayou Park. This is a large project design to restore the natural environment and provide a healthy outdoor recreation experience for the residents and visitors to Downtown Houston.

Austin has the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail that wanders along the shores of Lady Bird Lake on the Colorado River. This trail connects several local parks, museums and recreation areas.

Fort Worth has the Trinity River Trail system that resembles spokes on a wagon wheel, extending out into the residential neighborhoods.

Within the major cities of Texas, or in their outskirts, there are other inviting paved and unpaved trail systems located along local creeks and rivers or going across the open Texas landscape.

Note:  Verify the condition of the trails with the local authorities for that trail. Trails along waterways may have damage due to flooding.
