Recreational trails for walking, running and cycling in Weatherford, Texas
Weatherford is located about 30 miles west of Downtown Fort Worth in North Central Texas. The eastern end of the Lake Mineral Wells Trailway is located at Cartwright Park just northwest of the city. The other recreational trails in the city are the Town Creek Hike & Bike Trails on the southeast side of town.
Town Creek Hike & Bike Trails
The Town Creek Hike and Bike Trails are three connected paved hike and bike trails on the southeast side of the city, the Santa Fe Trail, the Holland Lake Trail and the Bose Ikard Trail. These trails also connect to trails at Holland Lake Park.
The trails start at Highway 180 and Santa Fe Drive. A paved trail follows alongside Santa Fe Drive for 1/2 mile. The Holland Lake Trail takes off from here and wanders along the open space area along Town Creek and over to Holland Lake Park. The Bose Ikard Trail heads off from Eureka Street and follows the creek to Ikard Lane near Bose Ikard Elementary School.
Soldier Springs Park
There are several walking trails located at Soldier Springs Park on the southwest part of the city. The park is located on Charles Street and Tiffany Trail.
Lake Mineral Wells Trailway
The Lake Mineral Wells Trailway is a 20-mile long unpaved trail that extends between Weatherford and Mineral Wells. The trail was placed along an abandoned railroad bed and has wide curves and gentle grades. The trail goes cross-county through forested stretches and open farmland. It also goes by the National Vietnam War Museum in Mineral Wells. The trailhead in Weatherford is located at Cartwright Park on the northwest side of town.
