The Katy Trail is a 4.6-mile long paved trail located in the heart of Dallas, Texas. The trail follows a historic railroad corridor through the Highland Park and Northeast Dallas neighborhoods to the north of Downtown Dallas.
The Katy Trail starts along N. Houston Street near the American Airlines Center Sports Arena and the Victory Promenade in Downtown Dallas. It then takes a big loop to the north with overpasses for the Dallas North Tollway and McKinnon Street. It runs alongside the Turtle Creek Parkway and has an overpass for N. Fitzburgh Avenue. The Katy Trail intersects the Ridgewood Trail which allows a connection to trails in the White Rock Creek Greenbelt. The north end of the trail is located along SMU Boulevard to the east of US 75.
Conditions
The Katy Trail is paved for the entire route. The trail is open for bike riding, running and walking. The trail goes past dense urban areas, safety precautions should be taken as with any urban area. Have a cellphone with you, travel in groups when possible, be aware of your surroundings, avoid the trail after dark.

Ridgewood Trail: The two trails meet at a point near the intersection of Worcola Street and Twin Sisters Drive in Dallas. The Ridgewood Trail allows a connection to trails in the White Rock Creek Greenbelt.
End Points
The southwest end of the southerly section of the Katy Trail is located along N. Houston Street to the northwest of Payne Street on the northwest side of Downtown Dallas.
The northeast end is located along SMU Boulevard to the east of US 75 in Dallas.
