Recreational Trails located in: South Dakota
The State of South Dakota is located in the north central portion of the U.S.A. South Dakota is a very rural state with a relatively low population. The two larger cities are Rapid City and Sioux Falls. Pierre is the State Capitol and is located in the center of the state
Rapid City is located on the western side of South Dakota. It has an extensive system of paved trails that is located along Rapid Creek going through the middle of town and several trails extend out to the residential neighborhoods.
Sioux Falls is located on the eastern side of South Dakota. The city has a system of trails that loops around the entire urban area.
Pierre has its own system of recreational trails, some of which travel alongside the Missouri River and others are located in local parks.
The George S. Mickelson Trail is a 109-mile long unpaved trail located between the towns of Deadwood and Edgemont on the far west side of South Dakota. This trail was built along the route of an abandoned railroad line and takes you through the historic and beautiful Black Hills.
