The State of Wisconsin is located in the Central United States. Wisconsin is located along Lake Mishigan and also has shoreline along Lake Superior. The western border of Wisconsin is the St. Croix River and the Mississippi River. The topography of Wisconsin is that of rolling hills, lakes and wide open prairie land.

Wisconsin has numerous recreational trails that extend for miles across the open countryside. These trails go past farmland, forested areas, wetland and small communities. Many of these trails were constructed along abandoned railroad beds and cross rivers using historic railroad bridges.

The urban areas of Wisconsin also have expansive networks of recreational trails for walking, bike riding, enjoying the outdoors, sight-seeing or commuting to school or to work.
