Recreational Trails located in: New Jersey
The State of New Jersey is located in the Northeastern United States. New Jersey is situated to the south of New York and has a large urban population in the north. The southern portion of the state is more rural with farmland and small communities. The state also sits on the Atlantic Ocean and has miles of shoreline.
New Jersey has numerous regional recreational trails that extend for miles and allow trail users to experience the great outdoors far from traffic and congestion. Many of these trails were constructed along abandoned railroad right-of-ways and have relatively few road crossings.
The major cities in New Jersey each have their own system of recreational trails. Some trails connect greenspaces, natural areas or parks and others are located alongside major roadways. These trails are used for cycling, walking, running, enjoying the outdoors or commuting to work or to school. Additionally, New Jersey has miles of beaches and many of the communities have wide paved boardwalks for the visitors and residents to enjoy a stroll.
