The State of Tennessee is located in the Southern United States. The topography of the state is that of tree covered landscape dotted with farms and crossed with wide rivers. The eastern part of the state is the location of the Great Smoky Mountains along the border with North Carolina.

Most of recrational trails are located within the larger cities of Tennesee. These are trails along waterways or abandoned railroad right of ways that provide outdoor recreational opportunities for the local residents and visitors.
