Recreational trails for walking, running and cycling in Germantown and Collierville, Tennessee
Germantown and Collierville are located in Shelby County in the Southwest corner of Tennessee. These communities are situated on the outskirts of the Memphis urban area. Both Germantown and Collierville have a system of paved recreational trails that exist in multiple separate sections throughout the communities.
Shelby Farms Greenline Trail
The Shelby Farms Greenline Trail is a 6.6-mile long paved pathway located on the east side of the Memphis Urban area. The trail follows an abandoned railroad corridor and cuts through residential neighborhoods, tucks under Interstate 240, crosses the Wolf River, goes past the Shelby County offices and stops at Farm Road in Cordova.
The west end of the Shelby Farms Greenline Trail is located along Tilman Street to the north of Walnut Grove Road. The east end is located along Mullins Station Road at Farm Road. At its east end, the Shelby Farms Greenline Trail meets up with the trails at Shelby Farms Park.
Shelby Farms Park Trails
Shelby Farms Park is a 4,500 acre park that is located just north of Germantown in Shelby County. The park has miles of paved and unpaved pathways for bike riding and walking. There has been many recent improvements to the park and an expansion of the trail system.
At the northwest end of the park, the trails in Shelby Park connect to the 6.6-mile long Shelby Farms Greenline Trail that heads west into the heart of Memphis. On the south side of the park the trails connect to the Wolf River Greenway Trail.
Wolf River Greenway Trail & Germantown Greenway
The Wolf River Greenway Trail is located just south of Shelby Farm Park. The trail wanders through the natural areas alongside the river from Walnut Grove Road to a third of a mile east of Kirby Parkway. At this point the trails along the river become part of the Germantown Greenway system of paved pathways. The Germantown Greenway trail travels through the thick woods of the Wolf River Nature Area. The trail passes under S. Germantown Road and Wolf River Boulevard extending to Brierbrook Road.
Nonconnah Greenbelt Trail
The Nonconnah Greenbelt Trail is a 2.2-mile long paved pathway that spans between S. Houston Levee Road and E. Winchester Boulevard at S. Byhalia Road in Collierville. the trail travels through the natural area along Nonconnah Creek away from traffic and has no road crossings.
Another 0.7-mile long paved section of the Nonconnah Greenbelt Trail has been constructed to the west of Forest Hill Irene Road and north of the Bill Morris Parkway. This trail tucks under the Bill Morris Parkway to the Mike Rose Soccer Complex.
Wolf River Wildlife Corridor
The Wolf River Wildlife Corridor is located to the north of Collierville. This area has miles of unpaved walking paths that wander through the dense forests.
