Knoxville is located in Blount County in Eastern Tennessee. The city is situated along the Tennessee River and to the west of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Knoxville is home to the University of Tennessee.
Knoxville and Blount County have an extensive list of greenways with paved pathways that follow alongside the Tennessee River or other waterways, through local parks and natural areas or next to major roadways.
Downtown Knoxville Greenways
There are several greenways along the Tennessee River as it flows through the center of Knoxville. These pathways include the Sequoya Greenway, the Three Creek Greenway, the Second Creek Greenway, the Morningside Greenway, the Neyland Greenway, the Knox Blount Greenway and the James White Greenway. These greenways provide beautiful views of the river and of Downtown Knoxville skyline, the bridges and the landscaped parks and open spaces along the river.

Maryville Alcoa Greenway
Maryville and Alcoa are communities located to the south of Knoxville. This area has a 6-mile long continuous paved pathway system that connects residential neighborhoods, local parks, schools, commercial centers and natural areas. the pathway system spans from E. Hunt Road to Montgomery Lane. The trails go past Springbrook Park, Springbrook Recreation Center, Alcoa Duck Pond, Alcoa Elementary School, Springbrook Pool, Hamilton Plaza Shopping Center and Bicentennial Park.
