Recreational Trails located in: Michigan
The State of Michigan is located in the North Central United States. Michigan is a beautiful state surrounded by the Great Lakes and full of thick forests, farmland, wetlands and large rivers. Wildlife is abundant and many people enjoy birdwatching.
The state has numerous state and regional recreational trails that extend for miles and allow trail users to experience the great outdoors far from traffic and congestion. Many of these trails were constructed along abandoned railroad right-of-ways and have relatively few road crossings. Most of these trails are restricted to non-motorized use in the summer months and allow bike riding and hiking.
The major cities in Michigan each have their own system of recreational trails that follow the local rivers or shoreline. Some trails connect greenspaces, natural areas or parks and others are located alongside major roadways. These trails are used for cycling, walking, running, enjoying the outdoors or commuting to work or to school.
