Bay City is located in Bay County in Eastern Michigan. The city is situated on Saginaw River as it flows out to Saginaw Bay of Lake Huron. This is a beautiful part of Michigan and it offers lovely views of boats on Saginaw Bay and a quaint old downtown area.
The Bay City area has a system of paved recreational trails known as the Riverwalk, the Bay City Loop and the Bangor Township Railtrail. These are paved pathways for riding your bike, walking, seeing the sights and commuting about town.
Bay City Riverwalk, Bay City Loop and the Bangor Township Railtrail
The Riverwalk is a 1.5-mile long paved pathway that follows along the banks of the Saginaw River in the heart of Bay City. The pathway extends from Midland Street to Lafayette Street and goes through Veterans Memorial Park. From this location you can connect with the Bay City Loop that wraps around the city to the east or the Bangor Township Railtrail that heads to the north.
The Bangor Township Railtrail is a 7.5-mile long paved pathway that was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way and stretches from the Bay City State Recreation Area on Saginaw Bay to Downtown Bay City. The south end of the trail is located near E. Vermont Street on the west side of the Saginaw River.
The Bay City Loop Trail is a 7.5-mile log paved pathway that goes from the Saginaw river then heads to the east encompassing much of Bay City. The trail goes past Maplewood Park, Carroll Park and the Bay County Fairgrounds,
