Midland is located to the northwest of Saginaw in Central Michigan. The city is situated along the Tittabawassee River.
Pere Marquette Rail Trail
The Pere Marquette Rail Trail is a 30-mile long paved trail that extends between Midland and Clare in Central Michigan. The trail was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way. It has relatively few street crossings and gentle grades. The route of the trail crosses through the Michigan countryside. A long portion of the trail is adjacent to the Riverview Natural Area with thick forests, wetlands and wildlife.
The east end of the Pere Marquette Rail Trail is located at the end of Ashman Street in Midland. This location is the confluence of several trails, the Chippewa Trail heads to the south across the river and the Grand Curve Trail heads off to the east. There are also trails that head to the local parks along the river.
The Pere Marquette Rail Trail heads off to the northwest from this location to go past Emerson Park and Northwood University in Midland.

Chippewa Trail
The Chippewa Trail is a 4-mile long paved path that extends from the "tridge" over the Tittabawassee River at the end of Ashman Street. The trail goes past Towsley Dike Park and St Charles Park then heads to the west to follow alongside E. Pine River Road and ends at the Chippewa Nature Center.
Grand Curve Trail
The Grand Curve Trail is a 4.25-mile long paved trail that runs from the "tridge" at the end of Ashman Street. The trail heads to the southeast around the Grand Curve and past the Dow Diamond stadium to follow alongside E. Patrick Road. The trail ends at Patrick and Illinois.
