Recreational trails for walking, running and cycling in Port Huron, Michigan
The community Port Huron is located on the southern tip Lake Huron in Eastern Michgan and 55 miles directly northeast of Downtown Detroit. Other communities in the area include North Lakeport, Burtchville Township, Fort Gratior Township and Marysville. This portion of Michigan is situated across the St. Clair River from Sarnia in Ontario, Canada.
Bridge to Bay Trail
The Bridge to Bay Trail is a project to create a 54-mile long paved pathway that stretches from from Lake Huron, along the St. Clair River then along the shores of Anchor Bay. The route would span between Lakeport State Park and New Baltimore, going through Port Huron, Marysville, St. Clair, East China, Algonac and Fair Haven.
Currently the Bridge to Bay Trail system of trails exists in multiple separate sections, which have a variety of trail names. There are several sections in the Port Huron area. Much of the trail system that travels through the communities along the St. Clair River is completed as far south as Chartier Road in Marine City, with a few short gaps.
Wadhams to Avoca Trail
The Wadhams to Avoca Trail is a 15-mile long paved pathway that spans between Avoca and Griswold Road in Port Huron. The trail was constructed along a historic railroad corridor and takes a straight shot going past residential neighborhoods, forested areas, the wetlands along Mill Creek and farmland. the trail travels away from the roadway with a handful of rural road crossings.
