Regional Trails

The Falling Waters Trail is a 10.5 mile long paved pathway that extends from Concord to Jackson in Southern Michigan. The trail was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way and has few curves or road crossings. The route of the trail takes trail users through wide open farmland and uses a long causeway to cross Lime Lake.

Conditions

The Falling Waters Trail is paved for the entire route. The trail is open for bike riding, walking and running. Much of the route is away from roadways.

The Falling Waters Trail goes past the following communities: Concord, Spring Arbor, Summit Township and Jackson.

Nearby Trails

The east end of the Falling Waters Trail meets up with the Jackson Inter-City Trail, which extends the route as far as Jackson King Recreation Center near S. Cooper Street.

End Points

The east end of the Falling Waters Trail is located at the end of River Street on the north side of the community of Concord. From here the trail crosses the Kalamazoo River and out to the countryside.

The west end of the Falling Waters Trail is located on Weatherwax Drive on the west side of Jackson. There is a large trailhead to the south along Weatherwax Drive and an access path to the trail. This point is also the west end of the Jackson Inter-City Trail.

Jackson Inter-City Trail

The Jackson Inter-City Trail is a 3-mile long paved pathway that extends from E. Morrell Street in the center of Jackson to Weatherwax Drive on the west side of town. The trail acts as an extension for the Falling Waters Trail to reach the middle of Jackson.

The Jackson Inter-City Trail goes along an abandoned railroad corridor through the residential area and passes by the Jackson King Recreation Center and Middle School at Parkside.
