Recreational trails for walking and cycling along the South Jersey Shore, New Jersey
The South Jersey Shore area spans from Atlantic City to Cape May. Other communities in this area include: Ventnor City, Margate City, Northfield, Linwood, Somers Point, Ocean City, Sea Isle City and Wildwood.
This area includes numerous beach front communities that have boardwalks or paved pathways for bike riding and/or pedestrian use. There are also several paved pathways for getting about town located father inland.
Atlantic City Boardwalk
The Atlantic City Boardwalk is a piece of American history. The pathway is 5-miles long and goes past the heart of Atlantic City and then south to the neighboring communities or Ventnor City and Margate City. The boardwalk goes past the shops, restaurants and casinos that make Atlantic City famous.
Linwood Bike Path & Somers Point Bike Path
The Linwood Bike Path and Somers Point Bike Path form a 6.3-mile long paved pathway that travels through the communities of Pleasantville, Northfield, Linwood and Somers Point. This area is located inland to the west of Atlantic City. The pathways goes through residential neighborhoods and allow a connection to the Ocean City Bike Path that crosses Great Egg Harbor Bay into Ocean City
Ocean City Boardwalk & Ocean City Bike Path
The Ocean City Bike Path is a 2.7-mile long paved pathway that follows alongside the Stainton Memorial Causeway to cross from Somers Point to Ocean City. Ocean City has a 2.5-mile long boardwalk along the shore.
Atlantic County Bikeway
The Atlantic County Bikeway is a 7.6-mile long paved pathway that follows alongside Regga Avenue in Mays Landing to the west of Atlantic City. The pathway spans between Harding Highway and the Harbor Square shopping center.
Cape May Boardwalk
Cape May has a 1.5-mile long wide paved pathway along Beach Avenue. The beach is the southern most tip of New Jersey and is only a few blocks from the historic district of Downtown Cape May with its shops and restaurants.
Wildwoods Beach Boardwalk
The three communities of Wildwood Crest, Wildwood and North Wildwood have a 3.4-mile long boardwalk along the beach. The boardwalk is wide and paved and goes past residential areas, the Wildwoods Convention Center and Centennial Park.
Middle Township Bike Path
The Middle Township Bike Path is a 4.8-mile long paved pathway located inland. The route spans between Mae Hawkins Park in Cape May Court House to Court House South Dennis Road, then heads to the southwest to W. Main Street in Whitesboro. The pathway follows an old railroad right-of-way and travels away from traffic through woodlands, farms and residential areas.
Cold Springs Bike Path
The Cold Springs Bike Path is a 1.7-mile long paved pathway that is located inland and follows an old railroad right-of-way. The route spans between Sandman Boulevard and Cresse Lane.
Sea Isle City Boardwalk
Sea Isle City has a 1.5-mile long paved boardwalk that goes past the residential areas, shops and restaurants.
