The Mountain-Bay State Trail is an 83-mile long mostly unpaved pathway that extends from a point in Weston just west of Wausau going east as far as Howard, a community on the north side of Green Bay in East Central Wisconsin. The trail was constructed along abandoned railroad beds and go through some very scenic portions of the state between the urban areas of Wausau and Green Bay. The trail is maintained by Marathon, Shawano and Brown counties.
Conditions
The Mountain-Bay State Trail is mostly unpaved with a surface of compacted crushed stone. The trail is open for hiking, bike riding and dog walking. Cyclists over the age of 16 must have a valid Wisconsin State Trail pass with them when using the trail.

End Points
The northwestern end of the Mountain-Bay State Trail is located on Mesker Street and Corozolla Drive in Weston.
There is a gap in the trail between Maple Avenue and Rose Brook Road to the west of Shawano. The trail picks back up at W. Lieg Avenue and Rose Brook Road in Shawano.
The southeast end of the Mountain-Bay State Trail is located on Lakeview Drive, just north of Memorial Park in the community of Howard, north of Green Bay.
