The North County Trailway is a 22-mile long paved pathway that spans between the communities of Baldwin Place and Elmsford in Westchester County of Southeastern New York State. The trail travels through miles of forests, over wetlands, through rural communities and farmland. Much of the trail was constructed along the abandoned right-of-way of the former Putnam Division of the New York Central Railway, also referred to as "Old Put". There are artifacts of the historic railway including historic trestle bridges and restored railway stations.
Conditions
The North County Trailway is paved the entire route with a surface of asphalt. The trail is open for bike riding, running and walking. Much of the trail is located away from roadways and there are relatively few road crossings.

Nearby Trails
Putnam Trailway: the two trails meet in Baldwin Place on Tomahawk Street to the west of US-6. The Putnam Trailway heads northeast for 11.4 miles to the town of Brewster.
Old Croton Aqueduct State Historic Park Trail: the two trails come within a mile of each other near Tarrytown.
End Points
There are two separate sections of paved trail for the North County Trailway. The north section is 11.8-miles long and the south section is 8.2-miles long.
The north end of the north section is located along Tomahawk Street to the west of US-6 in Baldwin Place. The south end of the north section is located at the intersection of Saw Mill River Road and Campfire Road in Millwood. Trail users can use the bike lanes on either side of Saw Mill River Road for 0.8 miles to connect to the next section.
The north end of the south section starts along Saw Mill River Road near the intersection with N. State Road in Chappaqua. There is a short gap in the trail along Saw Mill River Road on either side of the Briarcliff-Peekskill Parkway in Briarcliff Manor. The south end of the south section is located on Warehouse Lane, to the west of Saw Mill River Road in Elmsford.
