Recreational trails for walking, running and cycling in Moscow, Idaho
Moscow is located in the Idaho Panhandle area on the border with the State of Washington. The town of Pullman Washington lies to the west of Moscow along Washington Highway 270 and the town of Troy lies to the east along Highway 8.
The Troy, Moscow and Pullman area is the location of a 22.6-mile long paved and 4-mile unpaved trail system that consists of the Bill Chipman Palouse Trail, the Paradise Trail and the Latah Trail. This system of trails connects these and other communities.
Latah Trail
The Latah Trail is a 12-mile long paved pathway that spans between Troy and Carmichael Road in Moscow. The trail is open for non-motorized uses such as bike riding, running and walking. The 12-mile long paved section of the trail travels through the open countryside between the two communities, going past farmland, prairie and forested areas. A 4-mile long unpaved section of the Latah Trail heads to the south from Troy through the natural areas alongside Bear Creek Canyon.
The trail has interpretive signs for a deeper experience of nature and history along the trail. The west end of the Latah Trail meets up with the Paradise Path at Carmichael Road in Moscow.
Paradise Path
The Paradise Path is a 3.5-mile long paved path that spans between the west end of the Latah Trail and the east end of the Bill Chipman Palouse Trail. The trail follows alongside Troy Road then wraps around the campus of the Universtiy of Idaho.
The Paradise Path meets the Latah Trail at Carmichael Road just south of Highway 8. The trail goes past Berman Creekside Park, Ghormley Park, West Park Elementary School and Guy Wicks Field. The west end of the trail is located at Farm Road just south of W. Pullman Road on the northwest side of the U.I. campus. At this point the Bill Chipman Palouse Trail heads west to the campus of Washington State University in Pullman, Washington.
Bill Chipman Palouse Trail
The Bill Chipman Palouse Trail is a 7-mile long paved pathway that spans between the campus of Washington State University in Pullman and the campus of the University of Idaho in Moscow.
The east end of the trail is located at Farm Road just south of W. Pullman Road on the west en of Guy Wicks Field. The trail travels alongside the Pullman Moscow Highway past the prairie and hillsides. The west end of the Bill Chipman Palouse Trail is located at SE Bishop Boulevard, just south of E. Main Street in Pullman. At this point trail users can connect to other recreational trails that head to the northwest into Pullman.
Kendrick Juliaetta Recreation Trail
The Kendrick Juliaetta Recreation Trail is a 5.5-mile long paved and unpaved pathway that follows alongside Highway 3 between the two communities of Kendrick and Juliaetta to the southeast of Moscow in Northern Idaho.
