Frederick is located 45 miles west of Baltimore and 42 miles northwest of Washington D.C. in the middle of ths State of Maryland. The city is situated along Caroll Creek and adjacent to Interstate 70.
Carroll Creek Trail & Carroll Creek Linear Park
There are paved pathways alongside Carroll Creek for around 2 miles.The trail goes through parks, passing Culler Lake and Edward P. Thomas Memorial Pool then heads west to go through the downtown area of Frederick.
In the downtown area, the paved pathways are located along both sides of the creek with numerous pedestrian bridges. In this area there are restaurants and shops and attractive landscaping, making for a pleasant lunchtime stroll or a place to bring out of town visitors. the east end of the trail has a branch that leads over to the Frederick MTA Station.
The north end of the trail system along Carroll Creek is located along Rosemont Avenue adjacent to the Frederick Freeway. The eastern end of the trail is located along E Patrick Street to the east of downtown.
Rock Creek Path
There is a 1.5-mile long paved walking path that travels through the natural areas and parks along Rock Creek to the west ofthe Frederick Freeway and to the west of Downtown Frederick.
