The Indian Head Rail Trail is a 13-mile long paved and unpaved pathway that extends from Indian Head to White Plains in Southeast Maryland. The trail tavels through the Mattawoman Creek valley and goess through some very pretty natural areas. The trail was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way and has gentle grades and few road crossings.
Conditions
The Indian Head Rail Trail is paved in the community of Indian Head, but the rest is mostly unpaved with an improved compacted aggregate surface. The trail is open for bike riding, walking and running.
Nearby Trails
There is a branch of the Indian Head Rail Trail that extends up to Bensville Park. Other nearby trails include the St. Charles Parkway Bike Path and there are other local recreational trails located in nearby St. Charles.

The west end of the Indian Head Rail Trail is located at Mattingly Avenue to the south of Indian Head Way in the community of Indian Head.
