The Rock Creek Trails are a system of paved and unpaved trails that follow along Rock Creek through several areas of Maryland. The trail system includes the Lake Needwood Trails, the Lake Frank Trails and the Rock Creek Hiker-Biker Trail. The Rock Creek Hiker-Bike Trail connects to the trails in Rock Creek Park in the Washington D.C. area. The trail system extends from Rock Creek Regional Park through Rock Creek Park in Washington D.C.
These trails go through the forested area along the creek and pass by numerous schools, local parks and other attractions.
Conditions
The Lake Frank Trail, Meadowside Trail and Lake Needwood Trail have an unpaved surface. The Rock Creek Hiker-Biker Trail is paved with asphalt with access paths that may have a natural surface. The Western Ridge Trail in Rock Creek Park is mostly unpaved with some paved sections. Bikes are not allowed on all trails, so follow local regulations.

Georgetown Branch Trail / Capital Crescent Trail: The Rock Creek Hiker-Bike Trail intersects The Georgetown Branch Trail just east of the intersection of Jones Mill Road and Jones Bridge Road. This trail then leads to the Capital Crescent Trail and to the Chesapeake & Ohio Towpath.
Matthew Henson Trail: The Matthew Henson Trail takes of to the northeast near Veirs Mill Road.
Rockville Trails: There are numerous recreational trails in the Rockville Area.
Rock Creek Park Hiking Trails: There are numerous hiking trails within Rock Creek Park that connect to the main trail.
Chesapeake & Ohio Towpath: The southeast end of the towpath trail intersects the Rock Creek Trails south of Pennsylvania Avenue NW and north of the Whitehurst Freeway NW.
