Recreational trails for walking, running and cycling in Winston-Salem, North Carolina
The city of Winston-Salem is located in the northwestern part of North Carolina. the city has a number of recreational trails that follow alongside local creeks or wrap around parks and natural areas.
Salem Creek Greenway
The Salem Creek Greenway is an 11.3-mile long paved and unpaved pathway that is located just south of Downtown Winston-Salem. The trail starts at Washington Park and travels through the natural areas and local parks located along the creek. The trail goes past the YMCA, the campus of the University of North Carolina, Salem College, Central Park, Winston-Salem State University, Bowman Gray Stadium, and Reynolds Park. The west end of the greenway is a 7-mile long pathway that wraps around Salem Lake.
The western end of the trail has an asphalt surface. The loop trail around the lake has a wide graded surface of compacted crushed limestone.
