The D & L Trail is a system of segmented trails located in Eastern Pennsylvania. There are over 75-miles of trail along this portion of the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor. Much of the trail follows alongside the Lehigh River and goes past several local communities. The route goes through the beautiful countryside of Eastern Pennsylvania, through thick forests, past rushing streams, over bridges and past farmland. The trail spans from Penn Lake Park to Easton. On the southeast end, the D & L Trail connects to the Delaware Canal Trail.
The D & L Trail is a part of the Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor. This is an organization than was set up to preserve the culture and history of the area that spans across five counties in Eastern Pennsylvania. The corridor is a historic transportation route that includes railroads, canals, rivers and trails.
Conditions
The D & L Canal Trail is open for non-motorized use such as bike riding, running and walking. The condition and the surface of the trail varies and is mostly unpaved. The trail is not suitable for all varieties of bicycles. there are several gaps in the trail where trail users need to use local roads to reach the next section.

Nearby Trails
Slate Heritage Trail: the two trails meet to the south of Main Street in Slatington.
Nor-Bath Trail: the endpoint of the Nor-Bath Trail is located along Clear Springs Drive in Northampton
Irontown Rail Trail: this trail makes a big loop around the community of Coplay and is located on the other side of the river from the D & L Trail.
Palmer Township Bike Trail: the two trails meet along the Lehigh River in Old Orchard.
Delaware Canal Trail: the south end of the D & L Trail meets the Delaware Canal Trail at the St. John Street Bridge in Easton.
End Points
The north end of the D & L Trail is located at a point off of Woodlawn Avenue south of Mountain Top. The trail is mostly continuous, with a few gaps, until Northampton. This section of the trail stops at the Coplay-Northampton Bridge.
The next section of trail starts up at Canal Park off of S. Albert Street in Allentown. The trail is continuous until the confluence of the Lehigh River and the Delware River on the east side of Easton. At this point the Delaware Canal Trail heads to the south alongside the canal and the river.
