The Olympic Discovery Trail, ODT, is a 130-mile long system of paved pathways along with designated roadways that travels across the north end of the Olympic Peninsula to the northwest of Seattle in Northwest Washington. The route of the combined trail and road system spans between the Pacific Ocean and Port Townsend.
There are 69-miles of several separate sections of paved pathways that travel through dense evergreen forests, go past Lake Crescent and travel along the waterfront of the Strait of Juan de Fuco with views across to Victoria, British Columbia in Canada. Other sections travel alongside Sequim Bay and Port Townsend Bay. The Olympic Discovery Trail will eventually consist of 126.2 miles of paved pathways.
The trail offers a marvelous way to experience the natural areas of the Olympic Peninsula. This region of Washington is teaming with wildlife and has dense evergreen forests, beaches and picturesque villages along the waterfront. The trails use historic trestle railroad bridges and many sections are located away from traffic. Other sections of the developed trail travel through the various towns, running adjacent to marinas, shops, parks and residential areas.
