The Eastern Canal Trail is a 15.5-mile long paved and unpaved pathway located along the Eastern Canal in the cities of Mesa, Gilbert and Chandler in the southeast portion of the Phoenix urban area.
Conditions
The Eastern Canal Trail has paved and unpaved sections. The trail follows alongside the canal and does have multiple street crossings. The trail is open for bike riding, walking and running.

Nearby Trails
South Canal Trail: at its north end, the Eastern Canal Trail connects to the South Canal Trail. The South Canal Tail then heads west and connects to the Consolidated Canal Trail.
Western Canal Trail: the Eastern Canal Trail connects to the Western Canal Trail at the south side of The Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch, between E. Guadalupe Road and S. Elliot Road. The Western Canal Trail then heads west, intersects the Consolidated Canal Trail and reaches as far as Interstate 10.
End Points
The north end of the Eastern Canal Trail is located at E. McDowell Road east of N. Gilbert Road. Trail users can continue on the South Canal Trail at this location.
The south end of the Eastern Canal Trail is located at East Riggs Road, just west of S. Gilbert Road.
