The Robert McClory Bike Path is a 26.5-mile long paved and unpaved pathway located in the northeast corner of the State of Illinois. The trail is also referred to as the Green Bay Bike Trail. The trail was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way and takes a straight route in the north/south direction. The trail goes through the urban and suburban areas north of Chicago. Some of the route is quite beautiful and family friendly while other sections expose the trail user to some of the rougher sections of the urban areas.
The path connects with several other trails along the way goes by a number of schools, CTA stations and local parks.
Conditions
The Robert McClory Bike Path is open for non-motorized uses such as bike riding and walking. The surface is that of crushed limestone north of the naval station south of Waukegan and pavement on the southern section. there are several gaps in the trail where trail users will need to use the local streets to reach the next section.
The Robert McClory Bike Path is located in urban and suburban areas, there are numerous street crossings along the trail. Trail users should take the proper precautions if riding the entire trail, ride in groups, be cautious of your surrondings, bring a cell phone, etc.

Kenosha County Bike Trail: the two trails meet at the Wisconsin State Line. The Kenosha County Bike Trail is a paved pathway that heads 3.5 miles to the north as far as Anderson Park on the south side of the City of Kenosha.
North Shore Bike Path: the two trails intersect at W. Scranton Avenue and Sheridan Road in Lake Bluff near the Lake Bluff CTA Station.
Green Bay Trail: the two trails meet at the Braeside Station on Lake Cook Road.
