The Great River Trail is a 57-mile long paved and unpaved pathway that follows alongside the Mississippi River in Northwestern Illinois and travels through the cities of Rock Island and Moline across from Davenport, Iowa. The trail then heads north and reaches as far as Savanna. The Great River Trail offers beautiful views of the Mississppi River and connects several parks and other points of interest.
Conditions
The Great River Trail is paved is some sections, has a compacted crushed stone surface in others. The trail is not continuous and in some locations, trail users will need to travel along streets to get to the next section. The trail is open for bike riding, walking and running.

Riverfront Trail: the Riverfront Trail follows the Mississippi River on the Iowa side in Bettendorf. The trail can be reached by crossing the Centennial Bridge or the bridges to Rock Island Arsenal.
Hennepin Canal State Trail: the western end of this trail is located in Colona and can be reached from the Great River Trail by using the local streets.
End Points
You can get to the Great River Trail by crossing the river at the Arsenal Bridge near 2nd Street and Iowa Street in Davenport. Trail users then need to use the 24th Street Bridge to get to the Great River Trail near 1st Street in Rock Island, Illinois.
The southwest end of the Great River Trail is located at Sunset Lane near the Sunset Marina in Rock Island.
The northeast end is located at the south end of Broderick Drive in Savanna.
