Wichita is located in Sedgwick County in south central Kansas. The city is situated along the Arkansas River and surrounded by farmland.

Arkansas River Path
The Arkansas River Path is a system of paved pathways that follows alongside the river through the heart of Wichita. The route spans from Interstate 235 to the Kansas Turnpike.
The Arkansas River Path crosses from one bank to the other in a few locations using pedestrian bridges or lanes on the bridges for the roadways. The route goes past residential neighborhoods, multiple parks, golf courses, Downtown Wichita, schools and commercial centers.
The north end of the Arkansas River Path is located at Big Arkansas River Park on W. 21st Street N. The south end of the path is located at E. MacArthur Boulevard and Southeast Boulevard.
Praire Sunset Trail
The Prairie Sunset Trail is a 12-mile long unpaved pathway that travels between the town of Garden Plain and Goddard and extends to Maize Road on the west side of Wichita. The trail follows an abandoned railroad right-of-way through farmland and residential neighborhoods. The graded and improved trail has a surface of compacted stone. The route is rural and has relatively few road crossings.
Chisolm Creek Trail
The Chisolm Creek Trail is a paved pathway located on the north side of Wichita. The trail follows alongside Chisholm Creek from Dr. Glen Dey Park to Chisholm Creek Park on N. Woodlawn Boulevard. In this section it goes through the parks and natural areas adjacent to the creek.
