Recreational Trails for walking & cycling in Cape Cod, Massachusetts
Cape Cod is located in southeastern Massachusetts. This area is a popular summertime destination for tourists and has beautiful beaches, quaint villages, shops, restaurants, farms, forest, wetlands and many recreational opportunities.
There are several recreational trails for bike riding, running and walking located on Cape Cod.
Cape Cod Rail Trail
The Cape Cod Rail Trail is a 22-mile long paved pathway that follows an abandoned railroad right-of-way along Cape Cod. The route includes a number of parks and access to beaches. There are views out to the Atlantic Ocean and to Cape Cod Bay from different sections of the trail.

Old Colony Rail Trail
The Old Colony Rail Trail is a 5.3-mile long paved pathway that extends form the intersection of its intersection with the Cape Cod Rabil Trail in Harwich to George Ryder Road in Chatham, across from the airfield.

Shining Sea Bikeway
The Shining Sea Rail Trail is an 11-mile long paved pathway that is located in North Falmouth and Falmouth in Southeastern Massachusetts. The trail goes past residential neighborhoods, across miles of wetlands, past coves and beaches and ends up at the ferry terminal.

Cape Cod Canal Bike Path
The Cape Cod Canal Bike Path is located on each side of the canal that stretches between Buzzards Bay to Cape Cod Bay. The canal trails are along the canal service roads and are each around 6.5-miles long and paved. There is a place to cross from one side to the other towards Bourne Bridge on the west end. Attractions along the canal include the Cape Cod Canal Railroad Bridge, the shops and restaurants at Buzzard Bay, Bourne Scenic Park, Bournedale Elementary School, Scusset Beach State Reservation, Sandwich Marina and the Gallo Arena.
Province Lands Bike Trail
The Province Land Bike Trail is located at the Cape Cod National Seashore at the northern tip of Cape Cod. There are several miles of paved pathways that wander around the grassy dunes adjacent to the shoreline. The small community of Provincetown is located across the road and is the location of the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum.
Phoenix Rail Trail
The Phoenix Rail Trbail is a 4.3-mile long paved pathway located in Fairhaven, which is to the west of Cape Cod on Buzzards Bay. The trail spans between the Acushnet River, across from New Bedford, to Reservation Road. There is a branch that heads south to Little Bay.
