The waterfront in the area of Downtown Boston is a vibrant mixture of docks, wharves, sailboats, ships, residential areas, commercial areas, parks and historical sites. The Boston Redevelopment Authority is working to beautify the area and make it more inviting for the tourists and residents that come to this area. The HarborWalk program has plans to create a continuous shoreline walking path as part of the city's waterfront revitalization program.
Currently, the HarborWalk is a collection of separate paved pathways and boardwalks that wraparound the various docks and parks along the waterfront. The walkways go past restaurants, commercial areas, office buildings, hotels and the numerous destinations along the waterfront. The sections of the HarborWalk are not continuous, but what has been constructed provides wonderful places to visit, get some exercise, enjoy fantastic views of the Boston Skyline, go for a picnic or grab a bite to eat in the restaurants.
Conditions
The HarborWalk has numerous sections that are not connected with each other. This is a very busy area of Boston with many pedestrians and street crossings. Some sections may not allow bicycles.
