Recreational trails for walking, running and cycling in Lake Tahoe, Califonia
Lake Tahoe is located on the border of California and Nevada and to the south of Interstate 70. Within California, the northern end of Lake Tahoe is located in Placer County and withing Nevada, the northern end of the lake is in Washoe County. Communities in this area include Tahoe City, Dollar Point, Ridgewood, Carnellan Bay, Tahoe Vista and Incline Village.
The Lake Tahoe area is located in the northern Sierra Nevada Mountains and is known for skiing, hiking, camping and watersports.
Truckee River Bike Trail
The Truckee River Bike Trail is a 5.6-mile long paved pathway that follows alongside the Truckee River and River Road from Squaw Valley Road to Fairway Drive. The trail is located to the northwest of Lake Tahoe. the trail goes past Squaw Valley Park and travels through the natural areas along the river.
The east end of the Truckee River Bike Trail meets up with the paved portion of the Tahoe Rim Trail in Tahoe City. This spot is located adjacent to the shores of Lake Tahoe. At this location there is a large parking area and the Tahoe City Transit Center.
