The Hockhocking Adena Bikeway is a 20-mile long paved pathway that spans from Athens to Nelsonville in Southeast Ohio. Much of the trail follows the Hocking River as it meanders through the Ohio countryside. The trail was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way which was also a towpath for the canal. The route goes through beautiful forested areas and farmland and is located away from major roadways.. The trail wraps around the community of The Plains along the way.
Conditions
The Hockhocking Adena Bikeway is paved for its entire route. The trail is open for bike riding, walking and running. The route has long stretches without road crossings.

The northwest end of the Hockhockong Adena Bikeway is located at Jackson Street and Watkins Street in Nelsonville.
The east end of the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway is located at E. State Street and the off-ramp for Highway 50 on the far east side of Athens.
