The Legacy Trail is a 10.8-mile long paved pathway that spans between Sarasota and Venice in along the Gulf Coast of Central Florida. The trail was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way that takes a straight route past residential neighborhoods, local parks, Oscar Scherer State Park and natural areas along the Gulf Coast communities.
The south end of The Legacy Trail meets up with the trails in the Venetian Water Way Park at the historic Venice Trail Depot.
Conditions
The Legacy Trail is paved the entire route. There are a few road crossings, but most of route are long stretches away from traffic. The trail is open for bike riding, running and walking.

End Points
The north end of The Legacy Trail is located along McIntosh Road to the south of Sawyer Loop Road in Sarasota.
The south end of the trail is at E. Venice Avenue to the west of State Highway 41 in Venice.
