The Withlacoochee State Trail is a 46-mile long paved pathway that spans between Citrus Springs and Lacoochee to the northeast of Tampa in West Central Florida. The trail was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way and travels past residential neighborhoods, past farmland and through thick woodlands. The trail goes past a number of schools and local parks.
Much of the trail is located away from major roads, but a long stretch of the trail runs alongside N. Florid Avenue with a wide buffer between the two. The southern portion of the trail runs alongside S. Istachatatta Road and goes past farmland and through natural areas.
The Withlacoochee State Trail is part of the Florida State Parks and is a section of the Florida Trail, also known as the Florida National Scenic Trail.
