Recreational trails for walking, running and cycling in Muscatine, Iowa
The City of Muscatine is located along the Mississippi River in Muscatine County in Eastern Iowa. The city has over 10 miles of paved and unpaved recreational trails locaed thoughout the area. One of these recreational trails follows the Mississippi River past the downtown area. Other parts of the trail system are located in the parks and greenspaces.
Running River Trail System
The Running River Trail System has over 10-miles of paved and unpaved pathways in several sections located throughout Muscatine.
Mississippi River: there is over 3.3-miles of paved pathway along the Mississippi River spanning from Musser Park to Weed Park. This trail system goes through Riverside Park past Downtown Muscatine and has lovely views of the river, the Highway 92 bridge and the boat and barge traffic. At the north end the trail heads inland and travels another 2 miles. This section goes past Muscatine Community college and the Muscatine Mall.
Mad Creek Greenbelt Park: the is a 1-mile long paved pathway along Mad Creek that spans between Lake Park Boulevard and Park Avenue West.
Discovery Park: there are two miles of paved pathways at Discovery Park and adjacent Fuller Park on the west side of Muscatine.
Muscatine Kent-Stein Park: there is a mile of paved pathways, including a bridge over the ox bow lake at Muscatine Kent-Stein Park near S. Houser Street and Hershey Avenue.
