The Kokosing Gap Trail is a 14-mile long paved trail that spans between Mount Vernon and Danville in Central Ohio. The trail was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way and has few road crossings. The trail goes through the Ohio countryside past farmland and through forested sections. The trail crosses the Kokosing River twice on historic railroad bridges.
The Kokosing Gap Trail is also part of the Ohio to Erie Trail that spans across the entire State of Ohio.
Conditions
The Kokosing Gap Trail is paved the entire way. It is open for non-motorized uses such as bike riding and walking. Horses are not allowed on the trail.

The Kokosing Gap Trail is a section of the Ohio to Erie Trail that spans between Cincinnati and Cleveland. The two adjacent trails of the Ohio to Erie Trail are the Heart of Ohio Trail and the Mohican Valley Trail.
Heart of Ohio Trail: the Heart of Ohio Trail is located about 1 mile west along local streets from the endpoint of the Kokosing Gap Trail in Mt. Vernon.
Mohican Valley Trail: the Mohican Valley Trail is located about 3/4 mile east along local streets from the end point of the Kokosing Gap Trail in Danville.
End Points
The west end of the Kokosing Gap Trail is located at Philips Park at the end of Liberty Street on the east side of Mount Vernon. There is also a trailhead with parking just south of Mt. Vernon Road on the east side of the Kokosing River.
The east end of the Kokosing Gap Trail is located at the trailhead on the southeast side of Danville, off of S. Richard Street. Trail users can travel through Danville to reach the Mohican Valley Trail that takes off to the northeast to the community of Gann.
