The Mad River Trail is a 6.6-mile long paved pathway that connects to the Little Miami Scenic Trail just north of Downtown Dayton. The Mad River Trail starts in the center of Dayton then heads to the east alongside the Mad River through Dayton and Riverside. The trail goes past a number of MetroParks and Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and connects to other recreational trails.
Conditions
The Mad River Trail is paved the entire route. Most of the trail is located away from amjor roadways and there are few road crossings. the trail is open for bike riding, walking and running.

Great Miami River Trail: the trails meet at the confluence of the Mad River and the Miami River to the south of the interchange between Interstate 75 and Ohio-4.
Creekside Trail: the trails come close to each other near Springfield Street and N. Smithville Road in Dayton. This is near the entrance to the Eastwood MetroPark.
Wright Brothers Huffman Prairie Trail: the trails meet near the Wright Brothers Memorial along Ohio-444 and Springfield Street, just north of the Air Force Base.
End Points
The west end of the Mad River Trail is located at the confluence of the Mad River and the Miami River. This is the location of Deeds Park at Webster Street, just south of Highway 4. This is also the location where the Mad River Trail intersects the Little Miami Scenic Trail. The main section of the Mad River Trail follows the south bank of the river.
Farther to the east, the Mad River Trail goes through Eastwood Park. Eastwood Park is also near the north end of the Creekside Trail that heads off to the south from Springfield Street.
The east end of the Mad River Trail is located to the east of the Highway 444 bridge over the Mad River. At this location the trail intersects the Wright Brothers - Huffman Prairie Trail which heads to Highway 4 going north and the community of Fairborn to the east.
