The Iron Horse Regional Trail is a 32-mile long multi-use paved trail that extends from the City of Concord to the City of Pleasanton in Central California. The pathway for the trail was constructed along the abandoned railway bed of the Southern Pacific Rail Line. The trail serves as both a recreational opportunity and for safer travel for those users commuting to work or school. The route of the trail passes by a number of parks, schools and commercial areas.
The trail was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way and uses some of the bridges and underpasses that were constructed for the railway.
Conditions
The Iron Horse Regional Trail is paved the entire route and is open for bike riding, walking and running. The trail goes through urban areas and does have a number of street crossings.

End Points
The north end of the Iron Horse Regional Trail is located along Marsh Drive to the west of Solano Way in Concord. There is also an access trail leading to the Iron Horse Regional Trail from Hillcrest Community Park in this area.
The south end of the trail is located at Valley Avenue and Busch Road in Pleasanton.
