The Sacramento Northern Bike Trail is a 10-mile long paved pathway that spans between Elverta and Downtown Sacramento in Central California. The trail was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way. The route of the trail goes past residential neighborhoods, local parks, schools and ends up at the northeast side of Downtown Sacramento. The trail provides a great way for those commuting by bike to easily get to the downtown area. The south end of the trail is also adjacent to Sutter's Landing Regional Park.
The Sacramento Northern Bike Trail intersects the American River Parkway - Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail that follows the American River. The Sacramento Northern Bike Trail crosses the American River using an historic railroad bridge.
Conditions
The Sacramento Northern Bike Trail is paved for the entire route. The trail is open for bike riding, walking and running. there are a number of street crossings along the route.

Ueda Parkway Bike Trail: this trail is located just west of the Sacramento Northern Bike Trail. The two trails come close to each other near Arden Way in Sacremento.
American River Trail - Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail: the two trails intersect at Del Paso Boulevard on the northside of the American River in Sacramento.
End Points
The north end of the Sacramento Northern Bike Trail is located along Rio Linda Boulevard to the south of W. Elverta Road in Elverta.
The south end of the trail is located at C Street between 19th Street and 20th Street to the northeast of Downtown Sacramento.
