The Medicine Lake Regional Trail is a 15.6-mile long paved pathway that extends from Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove to the south end of Medicine Lake in Plymouth. This area in in the northwest quadrant of the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul Metro area.
The Medicine Lake Regional Trail travels through natural areas adjacent to residential neighborhoods and commercial centers. The trail connects with several other recreational trails along its route. There are a number of schools, local parks and lakes along the route of the trail as well.
Conditions
The Medicine Lake Regional Trail is paved for the entire route. The trail is open for bike riding, walking and running. Much of the trail travels away form traffic, but there are some stretches where the trail is adjacent to a major roadway. There are a number locations where the trail crosses major roadways.

The Medicine Lake Regional Trail connects to numerous other regional and local recreational trails. Many of these recreational trails are lcoal trails that wander through the parks and neighborhoods, others are paved multi-use pathways alongside the major roadways.
Rush Creek Regional Trail: the two trails intersect on the south end of Elm Creek Park Reserve off of James Deane Parkway.
Elm Creek Park Reserve Trail: the north end of the Medicine Lake Regional Trail connects to the trail system located within Elm Creek Park Reserve.
Luce Line Regional Trail: the two trails intersect at the south end of Medicine Lake. This location is along 13th Avenue N to the west of Highway 169.
End Points
The north end of the Medicine Lake Regional Trail is located on the south end of Elm Creek Park Reserve off of James Deane Parkway in Maple Grove.
The south end of the trail is at the south end of Medicine Lake, at 13th Avenue N and S. Shore Drive to the west of Highway 169 in Plymouth.
