Regional Trails

Brooklyn Park is located to the north of the City of Minneapolis in Hennepin County, Minnesota. The city is situated along the Mississippi River. Parks in this area include the Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park and Palmer Lake Park.

This area has a number of regional recreations trails that connect communities as well as trails within the local parks, natural areas and residential neighorhoods. There are also a number of paved multi-use paths that follow alongside major roadways.

Rush Creek Regional Trail

The Rush Creek Regional Trail is a 9.6-mile long paved trail that spans between Fernbrook Lane N. in Osseo and Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park on the Mississippi River in Brooklyn Park. This area with the trail is on the northern edge of the Minneapolis - St. Paul metro area. The trail goes through the Elm Creek Park Reserve, goes past residential areas and Oak Grove Park then stops along W. River Road.

Shingle Creek Regional Trail

The Shingle Creek Regional Trail is an 8.4-mile long paved pathway that is located in the northeast quadrant of the Minneapolis - St. Paul metro area. The trail spans between Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center and goes past local parks and residential neighborhoods. 

The Shingle Creek Trail connects to other recreational trails in the area. The south end of the trail meets up with the Shingle Creek Trail which then connects to the paved trail of the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway that wraps around much of Minneapolis.

Shingle Creek Trail

There are a couple of sections of Shingle Creek in the heart of Brooklyn Park that have paved pathways running through the adjacent natural areas. One section is located between Brooklyn Boulevard and Regent Avenue. Another section is located to the east of Noble Avenue and connects to the Shingle Creek Regional Trail at Xerxes Avenue North.

West River Road Bike Path

The West River Road Bike Path is a 6.7-mile long paved pathway that follows alongside West River Road on the east side of Brooklyn Park. The north end of the bike path is located at 109th Avenue N. The south end of the path is located at 65th Avenue in Brooklyn Center.
