Recreational trails for walking, running and cycling in Eden Prairie, Minnesota
Eden Prairie is located to the southwest of Minneapolis in the southeastern portion of Minnesota. The city is situated just north of the Minnesota River.
Eden Prairie has a large network of recreational trails. The Minnesota River Bluffs Regional Trail passes through this area and there are multiple other trails located in local parks and natural areas. There is a vast network of paved pathways adjacent to the major roadways for commuting to work or school by bike or on foot.
Rice Marsh Lake Park & Lake Susan Trails
Rice Marsh Lake and Lake Susan are two lakes of the chain of lakes along Riley Creek in Chanhassen and Eden Prairie. There are over 3 miles of paved pathways that wrap around the Rice Marsh Lake Park and travel through woods and wetlands away from traffic and roadways. These pathways connect to trails that connect to trails that wrap around Lake Susan via an underpass for crossing Market Boulevard. This area is located between Arboretum Boulevard and Highway 212.
Round Lake Trail and Mitchel Marsh Trail
Round Lake is located to the north of W. 78th Street and adjacent to Eden Prairie Road. Eden Prairie High School is just north of the lake. There is a 1-mile long paved loop around the lake and trails that lead over to the paved pathways around Mitchell Marsh.
Staring Lake Trail & Purgatory Creek Trail
Staring Lake Park is located just north of Pioneer Trail and west of Flying Cloud Drive. There is a 2.25-mile long paved pathway that wraps around the lake. Purgatory Creek Trail is a paved pathway heads to the north from Staring Lake and wanders through the through the wetlands and natural areas south of Prairie Center Drive.
Minnesota River Bluffs Regional Trail
The Minnesota River Bluffs Regional Trail is a 12.3-mile long unpaved pathway that crosses through the heart of Eden Prairie. The route of the trail spans from the northeast side of Chaska to 11th Avenue S and Excelsior Boulevard in Hopkins. The trail intersects numerous recreational trails within Eden Prairie and goes past Lake Riley and Miller Park.
The Minnesota River Bluffs Regional Trail was constructed along an abandoned railroad right-of-way and travels through rural areas of woodlands and farmland, past lakes and parks and through suburban neighborhoods. The northeast end of the trail meets up with the Cedar Lake LRT Regional Trail that heads into the heart of Minneapolis.
