The Luce Line State Trail is a 63-mile long paved and unpaved trail that is situated along an abandoned railroad bed. It extends from the small community of Cedar Mills out on the prairie to the City of Plymouth on the western outskirts of Minneapolis. The Luce Line State Trail crosses mile upon mile of open agricultural land, goes through tall grass prairie and wooded areas and goes through several farming communities.
Conditions
The Luce Line State Trail has paved and unpaved sections. The unpaved sections have a surface of graded and compacted crushed limestone. The trail is open for non-motorized use in the summer such as bike riding, running, walking and horseback riding. Snowmobiles are allowed during winter months on some sections. the trail has long stretches between road crossings and is located away from traffic for most of the route.
There is a gap in the trail near the community of Winsted where trail users will need to use local road to connect to the next section.

CR-30 Multi-Use Path: this multi-use path is located to the north of the Luce Line State Trail in Maple Plain and heads north to Delano.
Lake Independence Regional Trail: this trail connects to the Luce Line State Trail near Orono and heads as far north as Hanover.
Luce Line Regional Trail: the two trails meet up at the eastern end of the Luce Line State Trail along Vicksburg Lane N at 10th Avenue N in Plymouth. The Luce Line Regional Trail heads east into Minneapolis and connects to several other regional recreational trails.
Dakota Rail Regional Trail: the two trails come within a few blocks of each other in Wayzata.
End Points
