Southern California is located on the west coast of the United States. This section covers the area of California between Santa Barbara and San Diego. It also includes the Los Angeles metropolitan area, including Orange County.

This is a region of the United States that has year-round mild weather and provides an excellent opportunity for outdoor exercise. There are miles of beach front trails and trails that head up along river channels and into the rugged hillsides. Many cities have trails places alongside the major roadways for commuting about town.

The trails that have been mapped are for bike riding and/or walking. They are non-motorized public paths that connect schools, parks and natural areas.
