Santa Barbara is located in Santa Barbara County along the Pacific Coast of Southern California. The city is about 95 miles west of Los Angeles. The city is nestled between the steep slopes of the Santa Ynez Mountains and the coastline, with a lovely Mediterranean Climate. The beaches in the Santa Barbara area face to the south and there are views of the Channel Islands at 30 miles in the distance. This area is home to the University of California Santa Barbara.
Santa Barbara Boardwalk
The Santa Barbara Boardwalk is a 1.8-mile long wide paved walkway that follows the beach areas adjacent to Downtown Santa Barbara. The pathway spans between Santa Barbara City College to the Cabrillo Pavilion Arts Center. Attractions along the way include: Pershing Park, the Santa Barbara Harbor, Stearns Wharf, State Street, Chase Palm Park and Cabrillo Park.
Coast Route Trail - Santa Barbara
The Coast Route Trail in Santa Barbara is paved and about 3.5 miles long. The route of the trail follows the shoreline to either side of Downtown Santa Barbara and spans between Shoreline Park and Los Patos Way. In the Downtown area, the Coast Route Trail parallels the Santa Barbara Boardwalk. The Coast Route Trail goes past Ledbetter Beach, the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum, La Playa Field, Pershing Park, the Santa Barbara Harbor, Stearns Wharf, State Street, Chase Palm Park, Cabrillo Park, the Santa Barbara Zoo and the Andree Clark Bird Refuge.
Coast Route Trail - Goleta
The Coast Route Trail in the Goleta area is paved and 4-miles long. The route of the trail spans between the University of California Santa Barbara campus and Arroyo Road. The trail goes past Goleta Beach Park and follows alongside Atascadero Creek.
Maria Ignacio Route Trail
The Maria Ignacio Route Trail is a 1.8-mile long paved pathway that connects to the Coast Route Trail to the south of Hollister Avenue and east of Patterson Avenue. From this point the trail heads north and tucks under Highway 101. The north end of the trail is at the intersection of N. San Marcos Road and University Drive.
