Broomfield & Superior, Colorado
Broomfield is located in the northwest of the Denver Metropolitan Area and to the southeast of Boulder. The city straddles the major roadway of U.S. 36, also called the Boulder Turnpike. Broomfield is made up of residential communities and also is the location of the Flatiron Crossing Mall and the large office and commercial area of Interlocken. Superior is located to the west of Broomfield and west of Highway 36.
The Broomfield and Superior area has several regional recreational trails for bike riding, running and walking that span for miles connecting residential communities, open spaces, local parks, schools and commercial centers. The city also has numerous local recreational trials within the parks and residential neighborhoods.
U.S. 36 Bikeway
The U.S. 36 Bikeway is a 15-mile long paved pathway that follows alongside the Boulder Turnpike, U.S. 36, from the south end of Boulder to Westminster. The bikeway goes through Broomfield and connects to several of the local recreational trails as well as allowing connections to many other major roadways. The route goes past Superior, the Flatiron Crossing shopping complex and the Interlocken office complex.
The U.S. 36 Bikeway provides a safer route for people commuting by bike and has underpasses or overpasses along the way for crossing the Boulder Turnpike. There are nice views of the Flat Irons and the foothills and there are sevearl local parks along the way.

Broomfield Parks Trails
Broomfield has a number of parks and open spaces that connect or are located near to other parks. There is an interconnecting trail system that flows through several of these parks within the heart of Broomfield. These trails have numerous access points that come in from the local residential neighborhoods or commercial areas.
Interlocken Multi-Use Paths
The Interlocken area to the west of U.S. 36 has a large network of paved recreational paths for bike riding or for taking a lunchtime stroll. This area has beautiful landscaping and lovely views of the Flat Irons and overlooking Broomfield. Many of these paths follow alongside the curving roadways.
Coal Creek Trail
The Coal Creek Trail is a 14-mile long mostly unpaved pathway that goes through the open spaces of Boulder County alongside Coal Creek. The trail goes past Erie, Lafayette, Louisville and Superior. This area is to the north of Broomfield. The trail offers beautiful views of the Flat Irons and the Indian Peaks mountain Range. There are miles of trail with no road crossings and an opportunity to experience the natural areas of Boulder County.

Rock Creek Trail
The Rock Creek Trail is an 8-mile long mostly unpaved pathway located in Boulder County, Colorado. The trail starts in the north where it connects to the Coal Creek Trail then heads south through designated open spaces roughly following Rock Creek to a point north of U.S. 36, in an area just north of Broomfield. The trail goes under the Northwest Parkway and connects to trails in the Broomfield area near Ruth Roberts Park. There is a gap is the trail to the point where it connects with the U.S. 36 Bikeway and the trail continues to the southwest through the community of Superior.

Big Dry Creek Trail
The Big Dry Creek Trail is a 12-mile log paved path that extends from Standley Lake to Interstate 25 to the south of 136th Avenue in Westminster. This area is just south of Broomfield. On the east end, the trail connects to Lee Lateral Ditch Trail which travels for another 4.4 miles. The Big Dry Creek Trail follows the natural area alongside the Big Dry Creek as it wanders through the residential and commercial areas in the north part of the Denver Metro area.
